The Kannad Ameri-Fit is a complete Quick & Easy retrofit from Ameri-King to Kannad ELTs, to allow existing Ameri-King ELT owners to keep flying safely. The Ameri-Fit pack includes the Integra AF emergency locator transmitter for fixed-wing aircraft or the Integra AF-H for rotary wing aircraft, a universal mounting bracket, RC103 remote control panel, and DIN12/RJ11 adapter cable and coupler.

Is the 6 year battery owner-replaceable, or does it have to be done by the factory, or an A&P?

Yes it is capable that the owner can replace the battery, please check with your installer to ensure paperwork is done properly.

Which specific type of batteries are used? Where can they be purchased?

Please view part # 11-06297 for the replacement batteries for this ELT.

I dont see the antenna listed as one of the items "In the box". Am I to assume that the existing AmeriKing antenna for the 451 will work?

No, the antenna does not come in this kit. The old cannot be used as it is not apart of the for the Kannad ELT.

Does the Kannad Ameri-King Ameri-Fit Retrofit ELT include an internal GPS?

Per the Manual, yes this does have an internal GPS antenna for increased accuracy in case of an emergency.

Is this ELT, part #11-16086 a drop in size wise for the Ameri King AK-450?

The size for the AK-450 Size: 4.27"W, 2.95"H, 5.64"L.
The size for the Kannad is: 6.89 x 3.90 x 3.40 inches
You will need to install the new tray mount for 11-16086.

Will the remote control panel for the Ameri-king 451 need to be replaced, or will the wiring plug into the Kannad Integra AF?

Yes the AK-451 remote switch will need to be replaced. The Ameri-king retrofit kit comes with the switch and wire adapter for the Kannad Interga AF system.

Since this does not come with an antenna and the Ameri-King antenna is not useable for this unit, what antennas are compatible with this ELT?

This unit is meant to retrofit an existing Ameri-king installation. If the components of your existing Ameri-king installation are not functional, then you will need a complete new installation ELT kit.

If I am replacing an Ameri King ELT do I need a form 337 or can I just use a log book entry? If I need a 337 what data can I use I did not see any STCs.

This unit is TSO'D, so you will need a 337.

Whats the difference between USA and international? Which one do I need if I fly primarily in the USA with occasional trips to Mexico?

The difference is in the programming. If you have a USA registered aircraft, then order the USA version. If your aircraft is registered outside the USA, then you will need the international version.

If the old antenna cannot be used, then what one is recommended to order for this Kannad retrofit kit?

You can use the AV-200 antenna per the installation manual.

Since the Kannad Integra AF is the ELT in the Ameri-Fit kit and has an internal GPS, is there any reason to feed a GPS signal from a nav unit to it? How does it get the GPS location during a crash and activation if it is not powered up anytime the aircraft is in flight?

You can feed GPS to the ELT to ensure GPS signal at all times.

I am replacing an AK-451. The antenna for that unit is serviceable and works fine. The Kannad retrofit kit does not come with an antenna and therefore suggests that the AK antenna can be plugged in and used with the retrofit kit. Is this the case or do I need to order a new Kannad antenna as well? If I do, then this seems to defeat the plug and play aspect of the retrofit kit. Please advise.

The original antenna is supposed to work, however there are many cases that the antenna must be replaced.
