Does this product key the mike?

No this will just add music to your headset via a 3.5mm jack. Note that volume controls will have to be adjusted on the device you plug in.

Does the music lower volume or stop when a transmission is heard?

This is Adapter allows music to pass into your Dual Plug headset but there is no volume control or automatic music stopping when transmissions are sent done by the cable itself.
