The A-790 vernier control has a .078" dia. stainless steel wire core. Both the wire and Teflon™ lined flexible casing may be shortened as required. The Teflon™ liner provides low friction with heat resistance in high temperature areas such as engine compartments. Furnished with FAA-style knobs (Black, Red & Blue). Max. travel: 3-3/8". Stocked in the following lengths (measurement taken from under the panel nut to end of wire with knob pushed in).

Yes, they can be.

Can the A-790 VERNIER CONTROL solid inner cable be removed from the outer casing so that the casing can be cut, or must the casing be cut with the inner cable in place?

Yes. It can be pulled out completely. There is a small ball bearing that will fall out when you do, make sure not to lose that part.

Is this A-790 control FAA Approved for certified aircraft?

No, this is not FAA Approved. Only the A-790-12 is approved. Please search for that part number on our website for the FAA Approved unit. On that page, it will list applicable models.

Where is the length measured from? Tip of wire to tip of knob?

It is measured from the mounting point at the panel to the wire tip. Full length from the tip of wire to tip of knob is 39" for part # 05-08136 for example.
