No, the ball is not removable.

What is the diameter of the mounting ball? Do you have any photos of the mount assembled in real practice?

Per Westach: The mounting ball is 0.60" in diameter. Unfortunately, we do not have pictures of actual installations of this item at this time.

What is the diameter of this tear drop housing 2-1/4 or 3-1/8 inches?

Part number 10-01290 is meant for a 2 inch gauge.
