COMTRONICS DVX INTERCOM
Comtronics Model-DVX Intercom is a portable two-place General Aviation Intercom offering voice-activated and duplex circuitry - the best of both worlds. It incorporates a toggle switch to select between the "DUPLEX" Mode (live all the time) and the "VOX" Voice Activation Mode. With a flip of the switch, the pilot can select either mode depending on the communication requirement. "DVX" is taken from the letters in the words "DUPLEX" and "VOX" which describes the operation of this intercom. The "VOX" mode is used for cross-country flights. When operating in this mode, all microphone generated noise is eliminated until someone speaks.
"DUPLEX" mode is suited for ground operations and air traffic areas where radio traffic is heaviest and when intercom doesn't pop in and out. It is suitable for run-ups, taxiing, hearing the engine on take-off and landing - any place where background noise is needed to be heard.
Voice-Activated "VOX" mode provides a quiet and restful operation. Most pilots select this mode once they have reached altitude/cruise and radio transmissions are less frequent. Also, this circuitry is probably the fastest voice-activated circuit available as it responds to the spoken work in two-milli seconds. With a "VOX" circuitry that quick, there will never be any missing syllables at the beginning of any transmission.
For radio hook-up, it has a built-in interface cable with General Aviation plugs. It also has a 5-pin DIN auxiliary jack that can also be used to connect a music source or a DVX Rear Seat Intercom for 4-place operation.
The Model-DVX Intercom is powered by an internal 9-volt battery. There is also a 12-24 volt power jack located on the backside of the box that may be used with a hard-wired system or can be plugged into the aircraft cigarette lighter jack for portable operation.
