The AirGizmos Panel Dock was designed to securely hold your Garmin 196, 296, 396, or 496 portable GPS. It fits nicely in a standard 6.25" avionics stack. It allows you to quickly remove your portable GPS from your plane for upgrades, flight planning, or for use in your car or boat. It is also a safe way to use your portable GPS, as it is securely held in the panel at all times. The Panel Dock is shipped with a set of mounting hardware necessary for attaching it to an avionics stack. If you intend to install it in a different way, use the included hardware as a reference when deciding what type of installation hardware you will need.

does the Airgizmos Pangel dock have an FAA PMA?

As the Airgizmos Panel Dock is made out of plastic, there is no FAA PMA for it.

I am interested in the hole size for the mounting, the thickness of the material where the holes are located. What mounting hardware is provided?

The Airgizmos Panel Dock does come with a hardware mounting kit for installation. The diagram on our page description are the only dimensions available to us from the manufacturer.

Does this AIRGIZMOS PANEL DOCK FOR GARMIN 196/296/396/496 require an external antenna?

Yes, the use of the Airgizmos Panel Dock for the 196-496 will require an external antenna, for example part # 11-00051.

How do you remove the unit from the docking devise?

There is a quick release tab which will allow you to pop out the GPS.

What are the provisions for using the 12v power source if this is still a quick disconnect GPS from the mounting bracket?

The Panel Dock has been designed to |allow the cables that are included |with the |GPS to be used. There are keyholes in the back of the Panel Dock to allow the cables to be inserted with the unique feature of keeping the cables from disappearing behind the panel when the GPS is removed. If desired, you may cover the larger holes using rubber grommets.

Can the dock be angled to the pilot side to improve view?

This unit alone provides a straight out view. To angle the unit, you would need to purchase the angle adapter separately, see Part # 11-04671.

Will this also support a Garmin color GPSMAP 295 (which does look similar to the 296)?

No, see Part# 11-04315 for the Airgizmos for the 295.
